Carnoustie Beach is one of 52 beaches across Scotland to receive a Scotland’s Beach Award for 2026, recognising beaches that meet high standards for access, facilities and safety, local environmental quality, and community and heritage.

Carnoustie Beach sits in a beautiful east-facing sandy bay, with wide views across the Tay estuary towards Fife and Tentsmuir Forest.
The beach and seafront are ideal for a leisurely walk, taking in the sea air or simply finding a spot to enjoy the view. A long promenade runs alongside the beach, while the surrounding area offers green space and a range of leisure facilities.
And, of course, the beach sits alongside the world-famous Carnoustie Golf Links, giving this stretch of coastline a setting that is very much part of Carnoustie's character.
21 years of recognition
Carnoustie's 2026 award is particularly impressive as it marks the 21st year the beach has received Scotland's Beach Award recognition.
The awards are run by Keep Scotland Beautiful and recognise clean, well-managed and sustainable beaches across the country. Beaches are assessed across areas including access, facilities and safety, environmental quality, cleanliness, community and heritage.
Carnoustie is also in excellent company locally, with several beaches along the Angus coast recognised in the 2026 awards.
